Most of our trip we are just hiking or backpacking, but we have a couple activities we wanted to do and one was attending the rodeo in Cody, Wyoming. Cody is about an hour and a half east of Yellowstone, and it is the rodeo capital of Wyoming. They have a rodeo every night during the summer.

The rodeo has multiple events including bull and bronco riding, roping and barrel racing.

At one point they had all the kids under the age of 12 come into the arena and race to get bandanas off of two calves (the kids didn’t actually come into contact with the calves, the bandanas just fell off their tails as they went from one side of the arena to the other).
We had a good time, the show had a lot of added humor and is obviously a big part of the culture of Cody and the ranching in Wyoming.


After the rodeo we went back to our national forest campground which was in a canyon. There was some pretty aggressive wind when we went to bed, and at about 2 am I woke up to Jon-David trying to hold our tent up against the wind.
We decided to pack up everything in the middle of the night and move to a different site in the campground (accidentally waking the camp host’s dog in the process). The new site was more in the woods and we were able to get some sleep, but definitely wasn’t our best night.
