Change of Plans, UT

For the second week of our trip, I knew we might be feeling a bit homesick and would still be adjusting. To help, I had planned to spend the week in southern Utah which is a region we have done previous trips in.

Unfortunately, a heat wave is hitting the southwest and the region we were planning to visit was over 95 degrees.

We had a hotel booked in Provo, Utah for the night and we spent that time doing laundry, showering many times, and replaning the next week. Ultimately we decided to go straight to Great Basin in Nevada and head to California early to avoid the heat.

Before leaving Utah, we did have to make an important stop (twice). Anyone who knows me well knows my weakness is diet soda, and Utah happens to be the home of the “dirty soda” chain Swig. Dirty sodas have added cream and fruit purees, and are only found in Utah and a few other areas due to the Mormon population (no coffee, so soda substitutes). I may or may not have planned the Provo hotel for the soda stop.
